Sedona Family Vacation- Day 5 – Hiking, Hot Tubs & Football- Jan 1st, 2024
Itinerary
Another great day in Sedona with hiking a mountain, lunch out at a restaurant and two great hikes. While Brandon and Mark hiked two more mountains, Brad took the kids to a playground and then introduced them to the hot tub at the house. Lauri prepared a delicious Greek dinner and we watched the college football playoffs.
Today’s Bell Rock Hike With The Family – About 1 1/2 miles round trip with a steep hike up in the air for the 100 yards. This is a great family hike as it is flat most of the way and short.
Sedona is known for “vortexes” and Bell Rock is a supposed famous location for one. We have yet to be given a solid explanation of what a vortex technically is, but it’s made for a lot of great jokes.
Everyone made it to the end of the hike for a family picture
Meanwhile back at the house…
Everybody’s final thoughts of the day:
Brittany: Every trail here is nothing but incredible views the entire way, it hardly feels real. As a mom, I’m really proud to see my kids push themselves to complete longer hikes than we’ve done at home!
Brad: (After consulting Android Gemini), “In Sedona, the trails whispered ancient stories, the red rocks sang a symphony of color, and the spirit of the land awakened something wild within me.”
Brandon: The spirit of Lisa Velasco has helped me to embrace discomfort & scale the steepest mountain in Sedona.
Thea: The hot tub was my favorite part of the day!
Isaiah: (After the Colt BBQ Grill told us their kids’ menu was not offered today, Isaiah ordered the adult hamburger & housed it). “That was good! I’d eat there again.”
Sara: It was a good day — Didn’t get voted off the island and did not get pink eye.
Mark: Today’s adventures took me to Bell Rock trail where I and the family watched 3 year old Thea and 5 year old Isaiah happily run along the trail to the afternoon when Brandon and I climbed the steep Little Chimney Rock to view a 360 degree of the entire Sedona valley. It was like we where sitting on top of the world without a sound.
Lauri: My favorite moment was lunch outdoors with a view of the red rock mountains. I was out of my comfort zone hiking today when we’d said we were not hiking, but it was perfect. And an unexpected moment of joy was watching the little ones enjoy the hot tub so much.
