Nova Scotia – Day 7 – Hiking Kejimkujik National Park – June 20th 2025
Today was a travel day from the north shore of Nova Scotia to the south shore (Wolfville to Lunenburg). We fit in a 5 mile hike around Kejimkujik National Park Seaside.
Day 7 Itinerary
A hike around a foggy park on the sea shore was an interesting twist to our vacation
We drove about two hours from the north side of Nova Scotia to the south side to experience the Atlantic coast in Lunenburg.

Leaving the Tattingstone Inn
Our last picture at the Inn. The grounds were surrounded by plantings of flowers and the Inn was both quaint and well modernized. Our stay at the Tattingstone Inn was superlative. I should take the time like my friend Lisa and go out on Trip Advisor and rate it well. The rooms are very will appointed and luxurious. The grounds of the Inn are manicured impeccably. Lastly, the breakfast each day was a real treat. The waitresses were friendly college students from nearby Acadia University serving delicious hot food. If you are going to this part of Nova Scotia, the Tattingstone Inn is a must.

Upon arrival at Kejimkujik National Park we found the weather totally different than any of our days in Nova Scotia. Thus far we had been treated to five days of sunshine and warm weather. The locals abbreviate the Park’s name to Ke-Jee for ease of pronunciation. Today Ke-Jee was very misty with fog rolling off the ocean with very cool temperatures.

We had great time exploring the rocky shoreline.

We took a 5.3 mile hike throughout the park that took us through dense vegetation near the ocean.

zz

The trees are covered in moss from the humid climate.

Lauri resting on one of our breaks.

Wild orchids abounded throughout the park.

The rocky coast line was amazing.

We saw seals playing in the ocean and a very large porcupine wandering through the heavy brush. It was easily the size of a large hog and I never realized that a porcupine could be so big. Unfortunately it scurried off before I could get a picture.

End of the trail and heading back

Thankfully Lauri did not see this sign until we were leaving

Checking into the Rum Runner Inn

We had dinner at the Lunenburg Yacht Club on nearby Herman’s Island

The fish tacos made from local fresh haddock were plentiful

The Lunenburg Yacht Club is right on the water and had beautiful views of the bay.

Thoughts for the day :
Lauri :
After seeing a stunning sun set, gorgeous wild flowers, surprising wild animals and spending the day outdoors, I appreciate that Thoreau said, “All good things are wild and free”.
Mark :
I never expected to see the abundance and diversity of wild life here in Nova Scotia. After seeing wild Lupine flowers, turtles, mink cubs and wild pheasant in the last week, I was further shocked to see a porcupine and lots of orchids growing in the park today.
