Nova Scotia – Day 5 – Biking Harvest Moon Trail – June 18, 2025

Day 5 Itinerary

Got in Another 50 Mile Bike Ride

  • Luxury breakfast at the Tattingstone Inn
  • Bike Harvest Moon Trail
  • Visit Bay of Fundy
  • Dinner out at Juniper Restaurant in downtown Wolfville

Our stay at the Tattingstone Inn includes gourmet breakfast. We all met at 8AM to plan the day.

Some of today’s choices were: poached eggs with canadian bacon and a cornmeal crust, eggs and bacon, yogurt with fruit. Our waitress is a nice young lady from the nearby Arcadia University. Our rooms are fitted out with Nespresso coffee makers!

Today we went to Valley Bike Shop in nearby Kentville and rented bikes. From the bike shop we hopped on the nearby Harvest Moon bike trail and headed East for a 20 mile excursion. Before heading out, Rob made a friend at the bike store.

Our route along the Harvest Moon Trail

Carl, Rob and Mark at the beginning of the Harvest Moon Trail

Lauri and Lisa standing in front of the muddy tidal basins of The Bay of Fundy. The tidal basin behind the ladies is at low tide. The Bay of Fundy has the world’s largest change in tide change between high and low tide. The tide change height is typical thirty feet plus! While we were at dinner last night we say boats floating in deep water at the beginning of dinner. When we left we were astounded to seem them sitting in mud in few short hours.

Along the trail we saw this turtle below sunning itself in the middle of the path. We also saw a pheasant and three baby minks. Neither of which I have ever seen in the wild.

Can you guess what town Mark made it to?

Lunch at a taco restaurant in downtown Kentville.

What taco lunch is complete without a ice cream cone to finish?

After lunch Mark and Carl went for another leg of the trail, while Lauri, Rob and Lisa checked out some stores around town. Mark at the turnaround point in the town of Berwick along the trail. We completed 50 plus miles today.

Dinner was at the Juniper restaurant in downtown Wolfville

Lauri’s dinner: Asparagus with smoked scallops and proscuitto

Somehow we are all still getting along… but it is only day 5 of 10

Thoughts for the day :
Lauri :

It was such a cool ride today watching the tides change, enjoying rustic beautiful nature along the trail and chatting with the locals.

Mark :

Happy to be back on a bike after my debacle with the derailleur exploding two days ago.

I finished.
