Jeep Life #1 – Acquisition in Sept 2021
How in the world does a vehicle that is not that aerodynamic, nor tremendously gas efficient and lacks the wind swept look of most modern cars stay in existence? It is definitely a lifestyle following. Your making a statement. “I am an outdoors person. I go where others can’t go in the woods, on the beach or up some rocks.” In 2021 after believing that my next car was going to be none other than a Tesla I went out and bought a jeep. I was on a 20 mile bike ride along the beach and we counted no less than eighty jeeps of every model, make and configuration you can think of. At which time I said to myself, “If you live at the beach. You need a jeep!”
Here I am at the jeep dealership choosing color and add-ons. The salesman gave me some great advice: “If you planning to ride around a lot with the top down, then get a soft top only. Saves you money and your not constantly change back and forth between hard and soft top which can be a pain. “
It was a great idea. At the beach I ride with the soft top down as much of the year as possible. In the winter, with the soft top securely attached any outside noise is minimal.
Below is my jeep after my first upgrade which was replacing the side steps with Rhino metal step ups for the plastic ones that come from the factory.
Living in Bethany Beach I wanted to support and buy from a local dealer. But sadly that did not work out. The big dealers in the Washington DC area move so many more cars that their buying power in huge volumes and discounts is such that little dealers can’t compete.
The jeep looks a little generic but that is going to change! Owning a jeep is all about making it your own.
Below is the car I sold to Carvana — my red Prius. What a switch! Earth loving hybrid to a beach jeep.
